The short version

Who runs WikiClicks

This website is run by WikiClicks. If you have a question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].

Your results, streaks and statistics

When you play, the game saves your results, streaks, weekly rounds and statistics in your browser's own storage (called localStorage) on your device. This is how it remembers that you've played today and keeps your streak going.

This information stays on your device. It is never sent to us and we can't see it. If you clear your browser's data, or play on a different device or browser, it starts again from scratch.

Counting visits

We use Umami to count visits, so we know roughly how many people play. Umami is cookieless and anonymous. It records page views and three events: when someone starts the daily puzzle; when they finish it, with how it went (the result, clicks, par, time taken and whether search was used); and when someone shares a result, as text or a picture. It does not record your name, email or IP address, does not follow you around other websites, and can't tell who you are.

Wikipedia articles

The articles, pictures and facts in the game load live from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, run by the Wikimedia Foundation. To send you a page, their servers see the usual technical details any website sees, such as your IP address and browser type. They handle this under the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy. WikiClicks is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses, the pages requested and the time) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use these logs to identify anyone.

Cookies

WikiClicks doesn't use any cookies at the moment. If we add advertising in future, that may change; we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Children

WikiClicks doesn't ask anyone for personal information, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we'll delete it.

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
